Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) Incompatiblity List

Apple has a official incompatible software list for snow leopard, But it is kinda of incomplete. Here is an extra Mac os x 10.6 incompatibility list. Leave a comment if you find software that is incompatible with snow leopard and it is not on the list.

List of Snow Leopard Incompatible Software

  • ACDSee Pro for Mac Beta 1.1: Does not launch in Snow Leopard, report ACDSee Beta Forum users.
  • Application Enhancer (APE) 2.5.2: Affects numerous products that depend on APE.
  • CNS Image 1.0.7b1: "...will be corrected in the coming months."
  • Cepstral Voices: Update reportedly in progress.
  • Chax 2.2.2: Alpha releases of compatible version available.
  • Check Point Secure Client: Compatible release expected by end of 2009/beginning of 2010.
  • ChemBioDraw 12.0.1: Latest release addresses some problems but not all. See notes on Macs in Chemistry.
  • ChemDraw 12: Mixed reports from readers. Developer says "We hope to support Snow Leopard in future in a future point release. We have no information as to when this issue will be addressed at this time."
  • CocoaBooklet 2.0.4
  • Conference Recorder: Will not be supported for Snow Leopard.
  • EP Budgeting 6.7
  • EP Scheduling 4.4

  • PGP 9.10: Important: If using Whole Disk Encryption, unencrypt disk before upgrading to Snow Leopard. No current releases of PGP products are support. Next major release of PGP for Mac will support Snow Leopard.
  • PTMac 4.1: No further development expected.

  • Portfolio Server 8.5.4: Not supported.
  • PowerBoost: Will not be supported for Snow Leopard.
  • Radio265 1.1.1: Downgrade to Version 1.1 until fix is released. (Requires Rosetta.)

  • StickyBrain 4.x: Will not be updated.
  • Thayer Birding Software 3.9.8.1
  • Windows Live Sync 14: Compatibility update in process.

Softwares have problems with Snow Leopard

  • Acrobat Pro 9.1.3 : Adobe notes that it has replaced Adobe PDF Printer with Save As PDF in Version 9.1 and up. Readers report problems trying to use Save As PDF from this release, however.
  • ArchiCAD 12 (and earlier): Mac OS X 10.6.1 fixes a crashing problem. See Snow Leopard compatibility notes for other issues.
  • BlackBerry Desktop 1.0: 32-bit mode only.
  • FAXstf Server 10.9: See notes on Smith Micro compatibility page.
  • iScreensaver Designer 3.5: The screensaver cretaion program runs in Snow Leopard, but the screensavers created by the program do not.
  • HP print, scan, and fax drivers: See HP's Snow Leopard page for information on software included with Mac OS X 10.6 and instructions for installation and use.
  • LensFixCI 4.4 beta 2: Beta releases of compatible version available.
  • Lightwave 3D 9.6: Some bugs. Needs Cocoa/Hotfix LightWave v9.6.x. as described here.
  • MailTags 2.x: Compatibility release available now; Version 3.0 with full compatibility due by the end of the year.
  • Maya 2010: AutoDesk says "At this time Maya is not officially qualified on Snow Leopard (10.6). Proceed with caution when upgrading mission critical machines to this new version. We will update this page once our qualification process is complete."
  • Mindjet MindManager 7.x: Compatibility update available through Support on web site.
  • NetWare Client 2.0.1: Some issues; some features work. See notes.
  • Nikon Camera Control Pro 2: Still in testing. Will be updated if necessary.
  • Nikon Capture NX 2: Still in testing. Will be updated if necessary.
  • Nikon Scan 4: Still in testing. Will be updated if necessary.
  • Nikon View NX 1.4: Still in testing. Will be updated if necessary.
  • Office 2008: Microsoft says yes; readers report some problems.
  • One Finger Snap 1.4: Unsupported. Now open source but currently no developer.
  • Painter's Picker 2.2: Works with 32-bit apps only.
  • Peak 6.1.1: "While Peak 6.1.1 is generally compatible, we have identified some minor cosmetic issues and one crash..." See notes on web site.
  • Popcorn 3: "We have identified minor compatibility issues between Snow Leopard and our current Toast and Popcorn products." Also needs TiVoToGo update; preview available.
  • Prism 5.0b: See GraphPad's compatibility page for notes on problems. Company hopes "to begin beta testing 5.0c (which also fixes other problems, unrelated to Snow Leopard) in October 2009."
  • QuarkXPress 7: Unknown; not officially supported.
  • ScanSnap Manager for Mac 2.2L11: Some parts functional. See Fujitsu Snow Leopard compatibility PDF snowleopard_bulletin.pdf for information on the S1500M, S300M, S500M, and S510M.
  • SecuritySpy 2.0.1: Developer says "SecuritySpy is compatible with OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard with one exception: the Java applet for MPEG-4 remote viewing currently does not work in Safari (although it does work in FireFox and Windows web browsers). We are working to fix this issue."
  • SideTrack 1.6: 32-bit mode only.
  • Spell Catcher X 10.3.2: Works with applications running in 32-bit mode. See the Spell Catcher X 10.3.2 on Snow Leopard Quick Start Guide.
  • Strata Design 3D CX 6: "One issue has been discovered that we are looking into. The issue is an occasional crash when clicking on the Convert button. Also, the Strata 3D Vector plug-in for Strata Design 3D CX 6 will not work on Snow Leopard unless you install the optional support for PowerPC backward compatibility (Rosetta)."
  • TiVo Desktop 1.95: Reader reports Version 1.9.5 no longer works on Mac OS X 10.6.2, though it worked on previous Snow Leopard releases.
  • TiVo Transfer: Compatible preview versions available for Toast 10 Titanium, Toast 10 Pro, Toast 9 Titanium, and Popcorn 3.
  • Wacom tablet drivers: Wacom says that Versions 5.1.1 for consumer tablets and 6.1.1 for pro tablets are compatible but preference pane is 32-bit only.

Capture NX2 2.2.4 don't work on OS X 10.6.2. After 5 -10 minutes of editing photos, only crashes.
And both, Apple and Nikon, knows about this problem but they don't do anything...
