One day, I found my mac running on Leopard no sound while playing flash. No matter flash on the web, or flash file that I downloaded to the disk, no matter using Safari, Firefox or adobe flash player ( adobe media player), there was no sound for flash. It was strange, because I had sound while playing movies and mp3 files. Then I googled the problem, and managed to fix the problem. here is how:
1. search an application named "Audio MIDI Setup" with soptlight, run it.
2. find Audio Output session from "Audio Devices" tag of the application, and set the format to 44100.0 Hz and 2ch-16bit.
3. try you flash again, you should have your flash sound back!
It is said some applications change the midi sampling rate value from the default value 44kHz or 48kHz to other values like 96kHz that some hardware cannot handle. Some reported that updating iTunes may bring the problem. To fix the problem, manually reset the value back.
